01:06:37!

Apologies if you've come here from my other blog -- this post is going to be mostly a repeat of the other one... but keep scrolling -- the rest of the posts are different I promise!

I'm Smiling as I type this. The race was awesome. I finished a few minutes shy of my target time (Target was 70-75 minutes, finished in 66) -- and I ran the race with everything I could. I don't say this often -- but I'm REALLY proud of myself. In February I couldn't run 5 minutes to save my life, and this morning I did 10 kilometres - to me, that's a HUGE accomplishment, and I feel really good about it. I wasn't the fastest runner there, and I didn't have the best form -- but I finished my race with enough juice left to go hard at the end - it was great.

I have a medal, and my bib from the event. I'm going to buy a frame this week and hang both together on my wall.

Turns out no one was there to greet me in the end -- which was really dissapointing to me. But I found some people that I work with -- and we all hung out and went for breakfast, so that was fun! If anything I got a chance to network a little bit with some of the up-and-comers. We might do more races together in the future, which would definately be fun.

  • Thanks guys!

It was a great race.... Come to think of it 66 minutes means an average of 6.6 minute PER km -- which is awesome, and was pretty close to my training pace!

I'm going to focus on some speed training over the summer to hopefully increase my speed slightly for the next event!
